Rwanda’s president, Paul Kagame yesterday chaired a cabinet meeting that concluded that schools will reopen in few days to come within this month.
Schools in Rwanda have been closed down
for six months since the break out of the coronavirus pandemic. Though the
cabinet was unclear on specific day of official school reopening, it said
reopening will be done step by step.
“Schools will resume with a gradual reopening in the coming weeks based on levels of education. A detailed reopening schedule and readiness assessment will be conducted and communicated by the Ministry of Education,” reads parts of the minutes.
Except for few international schools that adapted to online teachings but in person classroom sessions have been interdicted in an attempt to adhere to the coronavirus preventive measures.
As of now, the country has seen 29 death toll of Covid-19, and confirmed a total of 4,798 cases, of whom 3,080 have recovered.
