When the football season ends, some players go on vacation, while others prepare for the next season. However, this is not the case for Issah Yakubu, a defender for Police FC, who founded the Issah Yakubu Foundation with the aim of helping the less privileged.
This foundation has been active for five
years, carrying out charitable work, and every year, it organizes a charity
game to raise funds to help widows, orphans, the underprivileged, schools, and
youth teams in the Awutu Bawjiase area, which is located in the Central Region
of Ghana, where Yakubu hails from.
As a footballer
who has achieved his dreams, Issah Yakubu is committed to using his talent to
assist those from his community. Every year, he brings together top players
from Ghana and abroad for a game aimed at raising funds to help those in need.
Speaking to
Inyarwanda, Issah Yakubu said, "This initiative is not just mine; anyone
who wishes to support the Issah Yakubu Foundation is welcome. It is a platform
for us to unite and bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged. Any form
of support, no matter how small, helps someone."
The charity
game has provided assistance to many people in need. In addition to helping the
less privileged, the foundation also supports local youth teams in the Awutu
Bawjiase area by providing them with sports equipment, so that young children
can grow up loving football with the proper resources.
As usual, after the 2024-25 season, the Issah Yakubu
Foundation will organize another charity game, encouraging all those with a
heart to help to join in. He said, "If you wish to be part of this
initiative, the message is clear: No matter how small your contribution may be,
it is never in vain because it could make someone smile and change the life of
someone in need."
