APR FC Held to a Goalless Draw by Rayon Sports

APR FC and Rayon Sports played out a 0-0 draw in their highly anticipated Rwanda Premier League clash on Sunday at Amahoro Stadium. The match, part of the 20th round of the season, saw both teams fight hard but fail to find the back of the net.

The first half was a tightly contested battle, with APR FC dominating possession in the opening minutes. They created several goal-scoring opportunities, including a powerful shot from Mamadou Lamine Bah that was saved by Rayon Sports' goalkeeper Khadime Ndiaye. Rayon Sports responded with an attacking spell of their own, with Biramahire Abbedy and Rukundo Abdul-Rahman testing APR FC’s defense.

As the game progressed, the tempo increased, and both teams became more aggressive. The first half ended with no goals, despite both sides pushing forward. A penalty shootout competition at halftime, organized by MTN MOMO, saw APR FC fan Nyiragasazi win a cash prize after beating Rayon Sports fan Malayika.

In the second half, Rayon Sports came out stronger, pressing high and creating dangerous chances. Aziz Bassane had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock in the 86th minute, but his shot went over the crossbar. APR FC also had a late chance through Ruboneka Jean Bosco, whose shot narrowly missed the target in stoppage time.

Both teams made several substitutions to add fresh legs, but the defensive setups remained solid. APR FC’s backline, led by Ishimwe Pierre, stood firm against Rayon Sports’ relentless attacks. Similarly, Nsabimana Aimable and his fellow defenders ensured that APR FC could not find a breakthrough.

The match saw a total of four yellow cards issued, with players from both teams committing tactical fouls to disrupt counterattacks. Referee Ishimwe Claude remained firm in his decisions despite pressure from players and fans.

With this draw, APR FC remains in the title race, but they will be disappointed not to have secured all three points. Rayon Sports, on the other hand, will take confidence from their performance as they continue their push for a top finish in the league.

Despite the lack of goals, the encounter was full of drama, intensity, and thrilling moments. Both teams will now shift focus to their upcoming fixtures as the league campaign progresses.
