After operating elsewhere for a considerable time, the Ministry of Sports has relocated its offices back to the renovated Amahoro Stadium.
Since April 2022, the Ministry and
various sports federations had been based at Hallmark Center, near Petit Stade,
due to renovation works at Amahoro Stadium. The aim was to upgrade the stadium
to meet the standards required for hosting major international competitions.
In an announcement posted on X (formerly
Twitter), the Ministry of Sports confirmed that, as of February 1, 2025, it had
resumed operations at Amahoro Stadium.
Following its renovation, Amahoro
Amahoro Stadium now has a seating capacity of 45,000 spectators, making it one
of the most modern stadiums in East Africa.
Although the Ministry has returned
to Stade Amahoro, sports federations that were relocated to Hallmark Center
will continue operating from there for now. However, reports suggest that plans
are underway to move them back to Amahoro Stadium in the future.
This time, the Ministry’s offices
are located in a different section of the stadium compared to where they were
before 2022. The new offices are near the outdoor training field, facing BK
Arena.
