Police FC has officially parted ways with their head coach, Mashami Vincent, following disappointing performances during the first half of the league season. The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2025, confirming the end of Mashami’s tenure with the team.
The decision came after
Mashami’s contract expired, and while there were plans to renew it based on
improved results, the team’s current standing did not meet expectations. Police
FC currently sits third in the league table, trailing leaders Rayon Sports by
13 points, despite an ambitious roster upgrade before the season began.
The team had bolstered
its squad with signings including Yakubu Issa, Ani Elijah, and Allan Katerega,
raising hopes for a championship run. However, Police FC struggled to deliver
consistent performances and faced an early exit in the CAF Confederation Cup,
losing in the preliminary round to Algeria's CS Constantine.
Mashami joined Police FC
in 2022 and guided the club to three trophies, including the Peace Cup and the
Super Cup. Despite his contributions, the team’s leadership decided it was time
for a change to realign with their goals.
Police FC, which recently
signed Byiringiro Lague amid interest from Rayon Sports, will now begin the
search for a new head coach as they aim to rejuvenate their campaign for the
remainder of the season.
