In a recent interview with Citizens Radio in Kenya, Rwandan music star Bruce Melodie expressed his desire to collaborate with Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz. However, he mentioned that he has not yet had the opportunity to meet or discuss a potential project with the artist.
The conversation around a Bruce Melodie and Diamond collaboration comes in the wake of the highly anticipated 2022 release of "Why," a song by The Ben and Diamond Platnumz that gained immense popularity.
The performance of this
song brought The Ben and Diamond together on stage during the Trace Awards in
Rwanda, igniting further anticipation of potential cross-border collaborations.
While
Bruce Melodie has established a strong connection with Harmonize, a former
signee of Diamond’s Wasafi label who has since launched his own label
"Konde Gang," fans have long expressed their desire for Bruce to work
with Diamond. Many believe that a collaboration between the two would solidify
Bruce Melodie’s stature in East Africa's competitive music scene.
When asked about the possibility of working with Diamond, Bruce Melodie responded, "I haven’t had the chance to collaborate with him yet. He’s a big artist I admire, but it's important to wait for the right moment to connect.
Maybe in
the future, we can work together." Despite not yet crossing paths with
Diamond, Bruce has maintained close ties with other Tanzanian artists,
particularly Harmonize, with whom he has already worked on a few projects.
Meanwhile,
The Ben has hinted that "Why" is not his only project with Diamond.
He revealed that they have more songs lined up, along with collaborations with
gospel singer Israel Mbonyi and others, promising exciting releases in the near
future.
