Renowned traditional Rwandan singer Massamba Intore is set to perform in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of a celebration for FPR-Inkotanyi members marking President Paul Kagame’s victory. Known for hits like “Kanjongera” and “Rwagihuta,” this will be Massamba's second performance in the Danish capital.
In an interview with
InyaRwanda, Massamba expressed his excitement about performing again for
Rwandans abroad. He emphasized that this concert is not only a celebration of
President Kagame’s victory but also a chance for FPR-Inkotanyi members to
reconnect. The event, dubbed "Imihigo Yacu Music Celebration Night,"
will take place on October 6, 2024, and will bring together Rwandans from
various European countries.
Massamba's upcoming
performance follows a previous engagement in Canada earlier this year, where he
performed for the first time in 11 years. The Canadian concerts were part of
Rwanda Day, an event that brought together President Kagame and the Rwandan
diaspora.
With a career spanning
over four decades, Massamba has become a staple in the international music
scene, performing at events worldwide. His songs, often centered on Rwanda’s
cultural and political history, have solidified his reputation as a key figure
in traditional music.
On August 31, 2024,
Massamba hosted a major concert at BK Arena titled "3040 y’Ubutore,"
celebrating 30 years of Rwanda's rebuilding journey and his 40 years in the
music industry. He remains celebrated for timeless hits such as "Karame
Rudasumbwa" and "Inkotanyi Cyane."
