In an effort to further enhance smartphone penetration in Rwanda, MTN Rwandacell PLC (MTN Rwanda) has collaborated with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation to introduce Connect Rwanda 2.0.

This initiative builds upon the broadband policy set forth by Rwanda's cabinet in October 2023, which aims to achieve 80% individual smartphone ownership, 90% household smartphone penetration, and an 80% adoption rate of broadband services.

As part of Connect Rwanda 2.0, MTN Rwanda has unveiled IKOSORA+, an affordable 4G-enabled smartphone, in Nyakarambi Sector, Kirehe District.

This initiative follows the success of Connect Rwanda 1.0, which connected over 26,599 beneficiaries across the nation since its inception in 2019. Connect Rwanda 2.0 focuses on increasing smartphone accessibility, enhancing affordability, and bridging digital divides.

Attending this event were notable figures including the Governor of Eastern Province, Prudence Rubingisa, and the Senior Executive of Mobile Money Rwanda , Chantal Kagame, alongside one of the Rwanda's renowned artists, Chriss Eazy, known for hits like "Jugumila," "Bana," "Inana," among others.

Minister Paula Ingabire commended MTN Rwanda for its efforts in advancing the Connect Rwanda 2.0 initiative, emphasizing its alignment with the government's objective of ensuring quality and affordable broadband services for all citizens.

MTN Rwanda's Chief Executive Officer, Mapula Bodibe, expressed excitement about the launch of IKOSORA+ and its role in Connect Rwanda 2.0. Bodibe highlighted the importance of providing modern connectivity solutions to all Rwandans, empowering them to connect, learn, and conduct business more efficiently. The IKOSORA+ aims to address the affordability barrier to 4G connectivity, enabling users to experience fast internet speeds and access digital services seamlessly.

Crafted with precision and innovation, the IKOSORA+ runs on the efficient Android S Go edition, offering a seamless user experience. Featuring a vibrant 5.0-inch display and dual front and back cameras, the device captures life's moments with clarity. With 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, and a long battery life, the IKOSORA+ ensures ample space and smooth performance for apps and media.

Priced at just Rwf 20,000, the IKOSORA+ is available at all MTN service centers and connect shops nationwide. Additionally, customers can enjoy an exclusive bonus package, including 1GB of data per day, 100 minutes of voice calls, and 100 SMS per day for 30 days, at only Rwf 1,000. This bundle offer is valid for 12 months and can be renewed upon expiration.

With Connect Rwanda 2.0 and the introduction of IKOSORA+, MTN Rwanda and the Ministry of ICT and Innovation are committed to bridging digital divides and empowering Rwandans with affordable and accessible connectivity solutions.
