Rwandan to Partake in Miss Africa Calabar 2020 Contest

Rwanda is due to be represented in Miss Africa Calabar 2020 contest by a candidate who will win preselection expected to take place soon inside the country.

The contest according to Safirun company organizing it declared criteria and what it takes to qualify for participation. Aiming at raising awareness of climate change, the contend- slated to take place in Nigeria- will bring together beauty pageants from diverse African nations.

The vying that is going to occur on its 5th time began in 2016. Candidates were given green light to register from today,14th October 2020.  

Close source said that judging panel will include Christelle Kabagire, a journalist at Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, Ange Umulisa( master of ceremony ) and an American, Tony B.Adesina.  

The source continued to reveal that 20 contenders elect will undergo another voting session until they obtain best three candidates of whom one will partake in Miss Africa Calabar contest. Christelle added that the three finalists will be shown on Miss Africa TV in a bid to get a best winner who will represent Rwanda.

Miss Africa Calabar 2020 competition is going to happen for 3rd time in Rwanda. Other countries in which the competition is underway involve Zambia, Zimbabwe and Cameroon. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit social media platforms of Miss Africa Calabar 2020. For this time, Rwanda received a nod to partake in the competition thanks to playing a leading role in conservation of fauna and flora.

Criteria for participants

-She must be between 18 and 27 years-old

-She must be 1,70m-tall

- She must possess valid international passport and school diploma or certificate

- She must have skills on modelling.

 Interested candidates are required to send in their address and three photos on   

Rwanda has participated in this competition thrice. Fiona Muthoni finished second in 2017. Natacha Irebe Urusule didn’t win any award in 2018 while Tania Muvunyi partook in the contest last year.  The best winner of this year contest will receive awards that include a car and $50thousands. She will replace a Kenyan, Irene Ng’endo Mukii who was previously awarded $35 thousands.
