Today, in the morning-a coaster- of Ugusenga Transport company, derailed off the road in Karongi District and killed many passengers whose bodies are yet to be identified.
Ndayisaba Francois, a Mayor of Karong District, said that the coaster derailed off the road and fell in a harzadeous inclination, killing passengers who have yet to be known, however Rwanda's police and a crew of paramedics are investigating a cause of the incident.
Karongi residents tried to search damaged car, looking for passengers who were inside
The accident occurred around 7:00 Am, today- on 16th July 2019. Karongi residents who saw the coaster derailing off the road claim that it was over-speeding before it went off the road. Health-workers, who were on the scene, added that they were struggling to get identifications of damaged bodies and that they will report names of the dead as investigation is over. At the moment, injured passengers are being offered treatment in Kibuye Hospital.
People who were passing by got shocked by the accident SSP Jean Marie Vianey Ndushabandi, the Senior Superintendent of police in Rwanda , said that at least 8 people were killed in the accident and 17 were seriously injured, for the moment, but further investigation goes on to find out more details.
'' We discovered that the car did not have technical problems before it derailed off the road and its speed-governor was working well, the possible cause of the accident might be that the driver was sleepy because of overworking ,'' SSP Jean Marie said. He further urged all transport companies, especially those working in Rwanda, to ensure that their drivers are mentally well and have slept adequately before they start driving.
