Yvonne Kabarokore, known as Ivy, represented Rwanda for the first time at the prestigious Miss Planet International 2024 in Cambodia. Despite her high hopes, the crown eluded her, as the competition ended with two winners sharing the title.
The event, held on
November 27, 2024, saw Dr. Mahra Lutfi from the United Arab Emirates and Olla
Levina from Indonesia crowned Miss Planet International 2024. Organizers
explained that the two contestants scored equally and will jointly carry out
the responsibilities associated with the title.
Ivy competed against
contestants from across the globe, including Europe, Asia, the Americas, and
Oceania. Although she showcased her determination and talent, the judges
awarded the top honors to contestants whose projects and presentations
resonated more strongly.
The first runner-up title
went to Ghada Ben Elhaj from Luxembourg, with Miss Planet Thailand, Panida
Kernjinda, as the second runner-up. Ukraine’s Victoria Oshur and the
Philippines’ Chrystel Correos rounded out the top five.
Ivy, who recently
completed her theater directing studies in Berlin, is also a member of
Mashirika Performing Arts. While the crown slipped from her grasp, her
participation marked a historic moment for Rwanda and showcased her talent on
an international stage.
Miss Planet International
is known for its unique approach, awarding over 30 million Rwandan Francs to
