5 September 2021, Kigali –The upgraded two-storeyed Church building sits 2 000 people at its full capacity, fully equipped with new equipment including the sound system, mega LED screens, among others.

The works to expand the church building took seven months. The church building of City Light Foursquare Gospel Church of Rwanda is situated in Kimironko sector, Gasabo district. It was first built in 2005 with then a sitting capacity of 600 people.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Senior Pastor of the church, Bishop Dr Fidele Masengo said the Church’s Doctrine of four squares is primarily about preparing believers for the second coming of Jesus Christ both spiritually and physically.

“There are four words in the Four squares. We believe Jesus as the redeemer who redeemed us; we were to die and Jesus gave us eternal. We believe Jesus as the Savior. We believe Jesus as the Baptizer of the Holy Spirit; believers should be baptized in the Holy Spirit for transformation, and we believe the Church is the bride of Christ who should be prepared for the coming of Jesus,” said Fidele.

He added that the church has been supporting government through sensitizing its members to take part in government’s different programmes. The funds that gave a facelift to the new building were contributions from the church members and friends of the church in Rwanda and abroad. The contribution also saw expansion of the Foursquare Academy classroom blocks.

A healthy Spirit in a healthy body

The Church has different ministries including; Youth, Women, Men, Children and family life. Others are; Social welfare, Worship and music, and Intercession and Prayer. Specifically, the social welfare department supports the church members, and also works with the Kimironko sector administrative to pay health insurance for vulnerable households; pay school fees for students; and also share Christmas and new year with poor families in the church.

Clemence Mukamuganza, is a Foursquare Church member. “My children would fall sick and fail to take them to the hospital because we didn’t have health insurance, and most of the time they would not receive end of year results because we hadn’t paid school fees. Today, Foursquare pay school fees for my six children, and pays health insurance for ten members of our family. When I am sick, Foursquare visits me and they bring me assistance; this strengthens to pray because I have a family inFoursquare that supports me.”

Providing job opportunities

City Light Foursquare Gospel Church has provided job opportunities for competent church members particularly in its administrative offices, and security, thus improving their incomes and family’s welfare in general.

Gaspard Sebasambizi earns a living working as a security personnel at the church. “The salary from the work at Foursquare helps me to sustain my family of nine people. I don’t have any other means of incomes aside a salary from Foursquare. I thank the church and the members of Foursquare, because our salaries and health insurance come from the contributions of the church members. I thank them,” said Gaspard.
