Government of Rwanda, through its ministry of health, is putting more efforts on raising residents' awareness on the viral disease and educated them how to prevent themselves from it.

To accentuate dangers associated with Ebola and attract people's attention to fight it, the ministry is using local music stars to campaign against Ebola throughout 13 events expected to be held in various parts of the country.

It is slated those events will be performed in areas that are far more exposed to risks of being affected with Ebola, especially those bordering Dr. Congo and Uganda.

Two events were already held in Rusizi district from 26 August 2019 and the remaining are scheduled to cross the country and be concluded in Nyagatare district, to the East of Rwanda, on 7th September 2019.

All events are funded by Easy and Possible, organization,  partnering with Rwanda ministry of health and UNICEF. Speaking to INYARWANDA the singers said dozens of people are interested in the campaign.

'' Music is one of the means of conveying message to people and we are pleased we were chosen to play this role of fighting against Ebola,'' Amag The Black said, adding they provide residents with soaps while in campaign to help them wash their hands.

Ebola symptoms

Experts say Ebola symptoms may appear anywhere from 2 to 21 days after contact with the virus, with an average of 8 to 10 days but many common illnesses can have these same symptoms, including influenza or malaria.

Recovery from Ebola depends on good supportive clinical care and the patient’s immune response.

According to the World Health Organization, an infected person cannot spread the disease until they develop symptoms.

Symptoms can be sudden and include fever, severe weakness, muscle pain, headache, and sore throat.

This is followed by vomiting, diarrhea, rash, symptoms of impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding such as oozing from the gums, or blood in the stools.
