Rwandan President Paul Kagame has expressed his heartfelt condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the people of Turkey following a devastating fire at a ski resort hotel in Bolu City that claimed numerous lives.

In a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, President Kagame wrote, "My deepest condolences to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the people of Turkey for the loss of lives in the fire at a Ski Resort in Bolu. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and those affected. We wish the injured a swift recovery."

Initial reports indicate that 76 people lost their lives, and many others sustained injuries as they fled the blaze. The fire erupted at the Ski Resort hotel in Bolu Province, located in the northwestern region of Turkey.

According to CNN, the fire broke out on the night of January 20, 2025, as confirmed by Turkey's Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya. Survivors with injuries are currently receiving medical attention in nearby hospitals.

Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydin revealed in a press briefing that the fire started around 9:30 PM, prompting emergency responders to rush to the scene. While the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, authorities believe it began in the hotel’s restaurant area.

The tragedy unfolded swiftly, with two individuals jumping from an upper floor in panic, leading to immediate fatalities. At the time of the fire, the hotel was hosting 234 guests. Efforts are ongoing to determine the exact cause of this catastrophic incident.
