Renowned for his heartfelt ballads on love and life, Rugamba Yverry, popularly known as Yverry, has announced his upcoming concert in Canada, where he will showcase some of his hit songs as part of his musical journey as a soulful artist.
The singer behind hits like "Nk'uko njya mbirota" plans to enchant audiences at the Kigali International Airport on May 24, 2024, as he embarks on a journey spanning two weeks in the North American nation.
This marks his first concert in Canada, following a previous performance in Rwanda and Uganda. Yverry, who has made waves in the music scene over the past four years, held a successful solo concert in 2022 at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village, known as Camp Kigali.
Speaking to Inyarwanda, Yverry revealed that the experiences of the past years have prepared him for this journey. He expressed, "It's my first concert abroad, and I am excited to represent Rwanda and entertain the diaspora. I look forward to spreading joy everywhere I go."
Apart from performing in Canada, Yverry will also collaborate with Rwandan communities in the country, with concerts scheduled between May 10 and 20, 2024.
"I have left many songs close to my heart," he said, "and I often perform in Rwanda, including at weddings. It's a job I do regularly, and sometimes people can't see me because they ask where I have gone. Therefore, I am grateful for the opportunity to perform at weddings frequently, which led to requests for me to perform in Canada."
Yverry aims to promote his new songs during his time in Canada, where he plans to record music videos and explore collaborations with local producers. He also intends to release audio tracks and performances at different intervals.
"I won't stay in the country doing nothing," he emphasized. "I have spoken to a producer, and we will work together."
As preparations for his trip continue, his team is finalizing promotional materials and ticket sales for the concert. Yverry's latest single, "Over," is set for release in three months, following the success of his collaboration with Butera Knowless on "Njyenyine."
The concert in Canada is part of a tour across North America. Canada, known for its diverse population, boasts a GDP of over 40 trillion Rwandan francs. While Ottawa serves as the capital, Montreal and Vancouver are other prominent cities in the nation.
Yverry joins a roster of Rwandan artists who have performed in Canada, including Mugisha Benjamin [The Ben], Kenny Sol, Christopher, Nel Ngabo, among others, making a mark on the international music scene.
