MTN Rwanda has launched a campaign to promote wearing masks in an attempt to prevent the spread of the Corona-Virus threats which it entitled W.I.S.E meaning; wear it safely and everywhere you go.
It also aimed at reminding the citizens of Rwanda of the significance of putting on the face-masks in appropriate way.
Addressing to the general public, Chief Finance officer in MTN said: ‘’ MTN would like to fully immerse itself by partnering with key stake-holders to re-emphasize and encourage citizens to safe-guard themselves from potential exposure to COVID-19, specifically focusing on wearing masks through shared responsibility, we can get this pandemic under-control.’’
Partnering with the Ministry of Health, Rwanda Biomedical Board and Rwanda National Police, the campaign is expected to complement the government’s efforts on their on-going Covid-19 campaigns that includes KambareNeza, ShishozaNeza and Rwanda Covid-19.
‘’ MTN remains committed to the health and safety of our communities as the main priority during these trying times, so we will be donating ten thousand masks to help fight against the virus,’’ Nkurunziza Mark added.
Since the pandemic broke out, MTN firm has contributed so much to support people of Rwanda. The previous donation was made to the economic recovery fund under the management of the ministry of finance and economic planning, particularly towards SMES to help keep them afloat during these trying times. To conclude, Nkurunziza said that wearing face masks is the best weapon to protect oneself while reducing the spread of the deadly virus and that the Rwandans’ choice will definitely be a trigger to their re-opening business and staying safe.
Back in the days, MTN has been taking a leading place in telecommunication market in the country since 1998 thanks to its expanding and monetizing of its network. It is reportedly number one internet network and offering superior services to its customers.
