Ferwafa Youth Vying Nears to the Final

The FERWAFA Youth Competitions in both boys and girls comes to a climax on August 1, 2019. The final maches are scheduled to be staged at Stade Umuganda, based in in Rubavu District.

The Boys, who are under 15 and 17 years-old, began to compete from June 2, 2019,  the  girls, who are under 17, began from July 1, 2019.

Following several matches played in both categories from the preliminaries to the zones, each zone is being represented by one team which will meet in a round-robin format from Wednesday, July 24 in Rubavu District.

110 boys in U-17 category, 125 boys in the U-15 category and 100 girls in the U-17 category have been picked and will represent various zones and a select DTN side in the final phase of the competitions. The camp for all the selected players is being staged at TTC Gacuba II from July 23 to July 31.

Action in the boys U-15 and U-17 categories starts on July 24 until July 27 with top two teams progressing to meet in the final scheduled to be staged on August 1, 2019 at Stade Umuganda.

In the girls’ U-17 category, action  will start from July 29 to 31 with the first and the second team progressing to meet in the final.

As the competitions will have finished, a national team of  Under-15  will be picked and taken straight to residential camp in preparations for the inaugural U-15 Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA), Tournament slated to be hosted in Djibouti in August.

Meanwhile, the best players in the U-17 Boys category and U-17 girls category will join nation-wide centers of excellence to ensure that they are monitored and prepared for future national teams engagements.
