Rwanda’s striker, Jules Ulimwengu, helped Rayon Sports score two goals against Atlabara Fc on the second day of the matches in group A.
On the 15th
minute of the match Jules hit a free-kick which shook Atlabara’s net and he
continued to put pressure on backward defenders of Atlabara, snatching the ball
from Atlabara’s players on the 79th minute and with his right foot sent
a stinging shot from midway of the field to score the second goal.
In the match played
at Kigali stadium yesterday, Rayon completed six points because it also
defeated TP Mazembe 1-0 in the opening match played at Amahoro Stadium.
Olivier
Ovambe, a new coach of Rayon Sports, seems to have started the tournament with
a lot of chances, since this comes as his second victory in only two matches of
the tournament. If he keeps like this, this year’s peace cup might be ecstatic
to Rayon’s fans, who are claimed to be the majority of Rwandans.
Before the
match began, both teams took a minute of silence to remember Azam TV
journalists who were killed in a car accident in Singida, based in Tanzania.
Rayon’s coach
did not change game tactic he used while facing off with TP Mazembe because 11
first lineups were the same.
Jean Claude Iranzi mounted in the
field from right-wing position, leaving behind Eric Irankunda Radou. Eric
Rutanga Alba, the captain, was on the left-wing position. Jules Ulimwengu was
put on forward-striker’s position while Herve Rugwiro and Saidi Iragire played
as backward defenders and Yves Kimenyi played in the goal.

Atlabara Fc showed that it was not capable of challenging the Rwanda’s Gikundiro because it was uncompetitive during its first match against KMC Fc.
Substitutions on Rayon’s side
Mirafa Nizeyimana substituted Olokwei Comodore, Said Irakoze substituted Jean Claude Iranzi and Yannick Bizimana replaced Hussein Cyiza.
Atlabara’s
players started the second half-time trying to calm the ball in the pitch and
give quick passes to one on one, but rather Rayon discouraged them after
breaking their deadlock on 79th minute.
Rayon now
leads group A with six points, TP Mazembe is the second with three points and
KMC FC and Atlabara Fc have one point each.
