Miss Rwanda, Meghan Touched by Horror History of the Genocide in Nyamata, she Advises the Youth

The Miss Rwanda of 2019, Meghan Nimwiza urges youths to fill up a gap that left Rwanda in havoc after the killings of Tutsis during 1994.

Meghan, today honored victims of Rwanda laid to rest at the Ntarama memorial site, based in Nyamata, in the East of Rwanda. Ndayisaba Fabrice Foundation; is a charity association that looks after kids from humbled families in the country. Miss Meghan participated in the charity work organized by the foundation, marking its 9th anniversary backing the kids.


Nimwiza urged a crown gathered at the Ntarama memorial site to intertwine hands and pay a respect to the victims of Tutsis killed in the genocide of 1994.

‘’ I would firstly want to comfort you, especially in these moments of sorrow as Rwandans, it does not ask someone to go through in order to feel it, all of us as Rwandans we remember the tragedy happened to Rwanda, we remember our beloved people’’ she said.

Meghan further appealed to the youth to use extra effort to rebuild the nation they need in the future. She continued, stressing that the youth were slaughtered during the genocide against the Tutsis in spite of the fact that they were unaware of what was going on with.

‘’We lost a generation that we must be having now, we need more, or doubled effort to fill in their absence now’’ she said, adding that they have to do sweat to secure better future. 

Nimwiza Meghan, crowned Miss Rwanda of 2019, in the event staged at the Intare Conference Arena on Saturday, 27 January, 2019. She won a crown victory after leapfrogging 5 contestants.
