South African singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka stopped over Uganda for a charity cause before she graces a music album launch organized by KNC in Rwanda.

The legendary singer is known for popular songs one of which is Let me be free. She promised to headline in KNC's album launch concert this July.

‘’ This is Mama Chaka Chaka, I would like to let you know that I will come to perform in Kigali with my music band on 27th July 2018.  It will be an amazing experience,’’ she said.

The source confirms that she arrived in Kampala on Wednesday evening. She will be participating in The music fest, organized by The Shule Foundation this Friday, July 20. The event will take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel and will also feature a performance from Bobi Wine.

The source added that she was received by the Shule Foundation team, comedienne Anne Kansiime and members of the press and she describes her reasons to stop by Kampla.

“I don’t see why we should have street kids when they have an extended family. It is your job and my job to take these kids off the streets and put them back in a classroom and make them responsible citizens,” she said. “God has given me breath and a platform and I want to use it to the best of my abilities to help others.”

“I urge you all to come out and let’s enjoy a great evening celebrating African music while supporting a good cause,” she added.

Proceeds from the show are to aid with the construction of a school for former street children in Kampala.

“With 48% of the children on the streets under the age of 15, we should take it upon ourselves to ensure that these children are granted atleast one basic right, which is education,” says Jacqueline Wolfson, the CEO and founder of the Shule Foundation.
