Imbabazi: The Pardon received the North America distribution (USA and Canada)

This is definitely good news every Rwandan should be proud of! Imbabazi: The Pardon, the 1st feature film from Rwandan Director and film producer Joel Karekezi as well as the 1st film by a Rwandan will be distributed in Theatres in North America (USA and Canada).

By FilmRise through The GFI (Global Film Initiative), Imbabazi: The Pardon is among 10 feature films from Armenia, Turkey, India, Croatia/Bosnia and Herzegovina, Venezuela, Rwanda, Morocco, Cameroon, and Egypt to be distributed in Theatres in USA and Canada.

"This year, with a major shift in the distribution paradigm, and with the assistance of our able distribution partner, FilmRise, we have been able to offer an even broader viewing opportunity to films that might otherwise have been overlooked" says Susan Weeks Coulter, Board Chair of The Global Film Initiative. Imbabazi: The Pardon is the 1st Feature film from Joel Karekezi who is working on his 2nd film “The Mercy of the Jungle”. The film recounts the story of Manzi who, after being imprisoned for the killing of ethnic Tutsis during the Rwandan genocide, Manzi must face the emotional and psychological consequences of his most personal crime: the murder of his best friend's family.
