Posta was the dominant side from the start controlling proceedings while pressing in search of an early opener. They had a couple of chances but Joseph Mbugi, Jared Obwoge and Dennis mukaisi couldn't find the back of the next. At the other end Meddie Kagere and Godffrey Walusimbi came closest for Gor Mahia but failed to beat Patrick Matasi in the first stanza, the teams left for a breather with game scoreless.

The start to the second was slow owing to the drizzles witnessed at half time, both teams took a cautious approach to the game because of the slippery state of the pitch. Posta however looked more adventurous going forward as they knocked in search of the opening goal.

Posta's persistence finally paid off at the hour mark when Dennis Mukasi gave the hosts the lead.  The experienced forward rose high to head home a Titus Echesa cross from the left flank, Boniface Oluoch on Gor goal could do little to deny his former teammate.

Gor made two changes after conceding, Francis Kahata and Jacques Tuyisenge were brought on for Amos Nondi and Karim Nizigiyimana as Gor Mahia went all attack in search of an equalizer. They piled pressure on Posta who kept on thwarting attack after attack from the Kenyan Premier League leaders.
